We Police Differently

Our mission is to help the community maintain order
while promoting safety and freedom and building public confidence.

We police with fairness and justice at the heart of each decision we make, as we analyze the underlying reasons for crime. Our policing style is known as problem-oriented policing and pivots upon the patrol lieutenant who has the time, resources, and authority to affect our responses to problems directly.

In that effort, the patrol lieutenant utilizes resources in the patrol division and works closely with the detective lieutenant to prevent crimes or solve recurring criminal activity. Housed within the patrol division, the Community Response Unit (CRU) is a unique team of police officers focused on resolving criminal activity and non-criminal livability issues. The patrol lieutenant works closely with the CRU, directing the team while also working with a crime analyst responsible for identifying crime trends and developing and communicating other critical information to all police staff.
