Shaney Starr has worked in the nonprofit sector for over twenty years in various roles.  She hails from Pendleton, Oregon, home of the world famous Pendleton Round-Up!  Shaney graduated from Northwest Christian University with an undergraduate degree in Business Administration and a minor in Speech Communications.  After gaining real life working experience, she attended graduate school where she obtained an MS in Management and Organizational Leadership.  Shaney has served as Executive Director of CASA of Marion County since May 2016.  She also currently serves as Co-Chair for NCASA/GAL’s Suburban Leadership Council, serves as a National CASA Trainer for CASA Program Directors, and is President of the Oregon CASA Network, a former Chair of the Marion County Commission on Children and Families, a member of the Marion County Public Safety Coordinating Council, and a board member for both the Public Defender of Marion County and Community Resource Trust.  Shaney is a member of The Salem Rotary Club and serves as Co-Chair of the Marion County Child Abuse Prevention Collaborative. She also serves as the CASA voice on Oregon’s Juvenile Court Improvement Program Advisory Council, Oregon’s Child Welfare Advisory Council and Oregon’s Family Treatment Court Advisory Council.  Shaney specializes in turning struggling nonprofits into organizations that develop and grow in both impact and populations served.  Shaney trained and owns Oregon’s first CASA Canine, Lilly Mae, her adopted rescue Boxer. Shaney has been married to her best friend Greg for 12 years.  In her spare time, she enjoys reading, tending her roses and Lilly Mae, the CASA dog!
