This sign, located near the Keizer Little League Park, tells the viewer that they are standing near the intersection of Longitude 123°W and Latitude 45°N (123°45°)

Each face of the sign has a different fact about the earth:

  1. Portland, Oregon is north of the 45th parallel and Portland, Maine is south of the 45th parallel.
  2. The 123 Meridian intersects six islands, one lake and only two cities as it spans north-south on the Earth.
  3. If you were in this exact same spot on the other side of the world, you would be in China.
  4. Only four states lie entirely north of the 45th parallel: Alaska, Washington, Montana (almost) and North Dakota.
