Councilor Smith was born in Lebanon, Oregon in 1971. His family lived in Sweet Home until he was 5, when they moved to Canby.  He graduated from Canby Union High School in 1989 and moved to Keizer in 1995. 

He married his wife, Krystal, in 1997 and has a step-daughter, McKenna, age 13 and a son, Keifer, age 9.

Councilor Smith has been active in his children’s activities, managing McKenna’s little league softball team and serving as Cub Master for Keifer’s Cub Scout pack.  He took an interest in local politics and began regularly attending City Council sessions.

He was appointed to the Keizer Urban Renewal Board in February 2005 and the Volunteer Coordinating Committee in April 2007.  He was appointed to the position of Councilor September 24, 2007, following the resignation of Troy Nichols.  His current term will run until January 2009.

Councilor Smith will serve as a Council liaison to the Keizer Urban Renewal Board, Emergency Management Committee, and the K23 Task Force.
