VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Date: February 17, 2017

We all encourage our children to be good citizens. What a better way to show them by volunteering yourself - set an example.

Volunteers grow community - you can help plant the seeds that make a difference in our community. The City of Keizer is soliciting applications for volunteers to be considered to serve on the following committees:

  • Keizer Points of Interest Committee - This Committee was established to identify, authenticate, and memorialize sites of interest located in the Keizer area.  Sites to be identified may be of the historical, geographical, botanical, or unusual.  The Committee meets on the fourth Thursday of each month at 6:00 p.m. (3 Vacancies)

  • Mid-Willamette Valley Community Development Partnership - The general purpose of this board is to identify regional community development priorities and facilitate regional, intergovernmental coordination of development initiatives. In the pursuit of this general purpose, the board may undertake activities such as the following: develop and approve regional development plans; oversee the implementation of development grant programs such as those funded by the US Economic Development Administration; advocate for regional development priorities; and provide formal, public forums for communicating regional concerns and priorities to state and federal agencies.   The board has detailed membership requirements with Keizer’s assigned member being someone in the professional field. It meets once a year at the Council of Governments building in downtown Salem. (One Vacancy ~ 4-year term beginning March 2017 and expiring February 2021)

  • Festival Advisory Board – This Committee serves in an advisory role to the City of Keizer by researching the feasibility for developing venues for events and festivals, streamlining policies and ordinances for potential events, developing an all inclusive community calendar, and developing a marketing plan to enhance the use of Keizer-area facilities for events, festivals, and conferences. The Committee meets on the 4th Monday of each month at 6:00 p.m. (One Vacancy)
